South African independent music company MaxNote Media has acquired Eden Groove Sounds as part of a strategy to increase its release output and build an ecosystem designed to export African electronic music to international markets.
The acquisition is aimed at expanding MaxNote Media’s release pipeline, while developing Eden Groove Sounds as a focused imprint for long-term artist development and consistent catalogue growth.
Founded in 2015, MaxNote Media operates as both a record label and media company, releasing music across Deep House, Soulful House, Afro House, Afro Tech, and 3 Step, while also providing services spanning international radio plugging, digital distribution, audio production, and visual content.
Under the new structure, Eden Groove Sounds will continue to operate independently as a brand, while being fully backed by MaxNote Media’s infrastructure. This includes A&R oversight, structured release planning, marketing strategy, content production, and access to international radio and digital platforms.
According to MaxNote Media founder Mzwakhe Nhlabathi, professionally known as M-Power RSA, the acquisition reflects a shift towards building scalable systems rather than isolated releases.

“Our intention is to increase our output in a controlled way, while building an ecosystem that allows African electronic music to travel,” said Nhlabathi. “Eden Groove Sounds gives us a platform to develop artists properly, grow a new catalogue we fully control, and position that music for international audiences.”
MaxNote Media confirmed that future releases under the Eden Groove Sounds imprint will be developed through a structured artist development approach, with an emphasis on consistency, quality, and long-term catalogue value.
The company added that the acquisition forms part of a broader ambition to strengthen independent African electronic music infrastructure and establish sustainable export pathways into the UK, European, and US specialist markets.
New releases and artist announcements under the Eden Groove Sounds imprint are expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
